MIDNIGHT OWLS

MIDNIGHT OWLS
During a period of about 6-9 months in 2014 owls came to be a prominent feature in my life, barn owls in particular.
The first time I was visited by the barn owl I was at a weekend AA convention up at Oban about 100 mile up north, it wasn’t going well for me this weekend and I believe this owl was a sign that the spirit world was around me, although I did not realise this at the time.
We were camping out and found a secluded area of the campsite next to an area of dense small old oak trees tree's about 15-20 foot in height, these trees gave protection from the coastal winds.
I was sitting outside my tent in silence and darkness just listening to the sounds of the night when from out from the trees about 15 foot away a barn owl flew towards me, it was so silent and glided past me no more than 5 foot away, if I reached out I'm sure I could have touched it. It was so beautiful, pure white underneath; its wing span was about 2 foot wide. I looked at my phone for the time and it said midnight 00.00 this was synchronistic to the event up at cairnpaple hill the night of the lightning.
The next time I saw the barn owl was up a local hill called Ravenscrag. This memory is very vague but I do know it happened and it happened at 00.00, a few months after Oban, the memory is more like a dream now
Again at 00.00 midnight, I saw the barn owl fly across an automobile roundabout. I was coming out of Lanark 20 mile from my home. I had parked up for no apparent reason in a layby facing the roundabout, there it was pure white again and gliding silently across the roundabout. This was not a good night, as me and my wife was meant to go to a wedding in Lanark. My intention was to go and wish the couple my best then come away again, by the time I got to lanark I felt it was too late to go and I ended up at lanark loch and sat and listened to the moody blues for an hour or so myself. After this I started to head for home along the country roads, to the place I stopped and saw the owl. Of course I don’t think each time I saw the barn owl it was the same one. To me they were there at my lowest times, they were white in colour so I may see them in the dark and recognise the simplicity and profound nature of the natural elemental nature of spirit. On each occasion my own spirit rose and comfort was gained.
Two of these experiences I know for sure were when I was at a really bad low in my life, these synchronicities were there for reassurance, letting me know I was being guided and protected. It did not feel like this at times but I know I was.
There was another time up my local hills in the darkness of night 2014; I was sitting in my car not far from cairnpaple hill parked in a small dirt layby looking out to the fourth road bridge some 9-10 mile away.
Out of nowhere came an owl, a small dark coloured one about one foot in height, I saw it fly close by the car a couple of times and it came to settle on a fence post on my left hand side. The music was on low and I had the windows open only slightly on the left but fully open on my side. It sat and stared right in at me, I spoke to it of course welcoming its presence. It sat for a few minutes then flew of.
A few minutes later it was back and flew about my side of the car with the window open a few times, I got the feeling it was asking me to come out of the car and play, "remembering I'm a 45 year old adult supposedly", anyway I did get out and stood calling to it with my arms opened out wide just in case it wanted to land, I felt this was a distinct possibility, it flew by a couple of times as I stood in the middle of this quite country road.
It did not come to settle on me but the feeling that I had just met another friend was nice.
Many times over the years I've seen owls during the night they have always been around me even as a young boy down the Glenn.
An owl’s egg I never got for my collection.
